Tournament Creation
Fast and Easy Tournament Setup
Creating a tournament has never been easier or faster. With our intuitive interface and step-by-step process, you can have your tournament up and running in no time.
Start Creating
Admins Initiate Tournament Creation
To begin, press the "Create Tournament" button in your community home. Only community admins have the ability to create tournaments.
Basic Information
Add Details and Description
Provide basic information about your tournament, including a description. If you plan to charge entry fees, add a statement description for financial clarity.
Tournament Location
Choose Between In-Person and Live Stream
Select whether your tournament will be held in-person or via live stream. In-person tournaments have additional requirements, such as setting up rooms, while live streams are hosted directly on the Debate Desk live stream platform.
Event Selection
Customize Your Tournament Events
Choose from a wide range of speech and debate events for your tournament. For each event, select a preliminary format (power matching, round robin, or random), an age range, an entry fee, and a resolution for debate events.
Time Slot Creation
Design Your Tournament Schedule
Create time slots to structure your tournament. Set the start and end times, and customize every minute of the day with preliminary speech, knockout speech, preliminary debate, knockout debate, or utility time slots. Add as many time slots as needed to accommodate your tournament's schedule.
Judge Assignment
Determine Judge Selection Method
For each time slot, choose the number of judges you need, and whether judges can self-select postings to officiate or if judges will be randomly assigned to different postings.
Enrollment Period
Set Enrollment Dates and Times
Establish the start and end dates and times for tournament enrollment, allowing participants to sign up within the designated period.
First Round Generation
Schedule Posting Release
Determine when you want your first round to generate and release postings, ensuring that participants and judges have access to the necessary information at the appropriate time.
Additional Purchase Items
Offer Extra Items for Purchase
Set up additional purchase items that will appear on your tournament home page. People can purchase these items by being redirected to the Stripe checkout, providing an opportunity for extra revenue or customization options for your tournament.
